Portrait Lesson

My friends Maggie Horvath, Tonya Flickenger and I had to create a lesson to teach to 3rd graders tomorrow, December 1st.
Our big idea is: Through out time and across cultures, artists have depicted people as unique individuals.
We chose to use portraits to discuss our big idea.
Here are the ones we are using:
Degas, Little Fourteen-Year-Old Girl

Kollwitz, Germany's Children are Straving

Neel, T.B Harlem

Cameron, Alice Liddel

Kahlo, Self Portrait with Thorn Necklace and Hummingbird

Permoser, Bust of Marsyas

Klimt, Medicine (Hygieia)

Munch, The Scream

Some of My Newest Projections

I did a test shoot this weekend with my grandfather's old slide projector. Here is what I've come up with so far. ... I plan to do a reshoot over Thanksgiving break in my grandfather's home.

Lori Novak

I really enjoy Lori Novak's work, especially her projections. She seems to be interested in themes similar to those that I am interested in, such as family photos, nostalgia and using projections. Here body of work Interiors is very similar to work I've been producing and revisiting in the past two years.
